Often, when Mike and I walk the trail that overlooks this valley in Snowmass, the colors don't appear as intense because the bright sunlight tends to play havoc with the shadows, contrast, and detail and the overall effect is "washed out". This day, however, the incoming clouds and pending storm shed some beautiful light and painted the valley with beautiful hues...
