Soon Enough

It seems as if everyone is getting a bit tired of the snow and cold, and because of that, I included this visual reminder of things to come (even though this picture is clearly not Dayton, Ohio!).  This picture was taken in Cancun in October of 2004.

This side of the Camera

I'm not very comfortable being on the this side of the camera, but if I am, its usually in front of a beautiful mountain vista.  Allie shot this picture in August of 2009 on top of Aspen Mountain.

Maroon Bells

It's July, and there's still snow on the peaks of Maroon Bells (White River National Forest) in Aspen, Colorado.  This is one of my favorite destinations in Aspen, any time of the year, and you're likely to see many more pictures from here.

Icicle Gardens

I'm sad to see the icicles metlting...As the giant ones come crashing down, the dogs are freaking out!

1995

This picture has always been a favorite and has been enlarged and displayed in my house since it was taken in May of 1995.

I'm pretty sure Allie is squeezing Josh so hard that he can barely breathe...this one brings tears to my eyes.

Midnight Visitor

This raccoon found its way in our house in the middle of the night through an open chimney flue.  After it climbed up two flights of stairs to our bedroom floor,  a ruckus ensued as our dogs began to bark.  Mike left the bedroom to see what the commotion was.  Surprisingly, he and the dogs encountered the raccoon who was then chased down the hallway to Allie's bathroom, where it climbed up on the shower curtain rod and stayed until it was safely captured and released by professionals.  It was a long, crazy night, but the raccoon was actually quite beautiful.

Go Barb!

Leave it to my dear friend Barb to be the only one our cruise to have the motivation (and ability) to waterski in the Aegean Sea.  This picture was taken in October of 2009 in Bodrum, Turkey.  Go Barb!!

Snow

I'm certain I'm one of the few people loving all this snow we have.  The untouched accumulation on this patio furniture outside my bedroom balcony is like a snow sculpture.

...I wish one of them remembered what they were laughing about.  Every time I look at this picture I laugh out loud...

Winter Portraits

This tree in our front yard is always calling to me to photograph someone in it, and this time, it happened to be Cody and Dillon.  Mike held the dogs up and hid from view.  Cody (top photo), as always, was comfortable there and posed for me.  Dillon (bottom photo), on the other hand, was not happy, and jumped from the tree right after I got one shot of him.  It wasn't a long jump down and I got a great shot of him jumping!

Pomegranate

This picture was taken on a recent trip to Istanbul, Turkey in the famed Spice Market.  It currently hangs in my kitchen.

Atop Aspen Mountain

Whenever I look at pictures taken up here, I always comment that it looks like there's fake scenery behind us.  I never get tired of this location...look at Cody under Mike's chair.

Dogs

For a short time in 2005, we had three dogs (you've seen a picture of Cody).  I call this Dillon's kindergarten picture (two months old) and Gimel's senior picture (11 years old).  Gimel died a couple months after this picture, and we miss him greatly.  My dogs must like leaves...

Colors

The mountains of Aspen paint the skies with colorful sunsets and rainbows.  This beautiful sunset was captured from our porch during the summer of 2008.

Cody

Cody was so small when we got him that he used to relax in Gimel's (our yellow lab) food dish.   The leaf he had hanging out of his mouth only made this picture better, and it also was printed in the Dayton Daily News.

Pacific Coast Highway

The Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur is some of the most spectacular scenery I have seen.  Dramatic cliffs, water, and rock all combine to create a visual feast for the eyes.

You Want To Talk Snow?

Given the snow we got here, it seemed only appropriate to post a picture of some REAL snow!  This picture was taken in Snowmass, Colorado in January of 2008.

It's Just Another Bluebird Day in Aspen

It doesn't take long to figure out why they call days like this a "bluebird" day in Aspen.   And yes, the skies really are that blue!

Happy Birthday Hannah

When my great niece Hannah turned one this past summer, she was given her very own birthday cake to enjoy.  She looks pretty happy to me!

A Quiet Moment

To this day, this photo evokes such strong emotion with me-I guess that's why I snapped it...
It was Hanukkah (1995) and we gathered around to light the menorah. Watching Allie rest her head on Josh's shoulder just took my breath away, and the look on both of their faces is so serene...

Seeing Spots

Allie was 10 months old and dressed up as a Dalmation for Halloween. We walked into a local pet store, and I'm not sure who was more surprised to see the other....Allie or the puppy!

Determination

This picture was snapped back in 1995 as Mike and Zach (9 years old) were getting dressed to go to a Bat Mitzvah. Zach was tired of Mike tying his tie for him, and was determined to learn how to do it on his own. I'm pretty sure he learned on the first try, as is typical of most everything he does.
